Sharing the Château makes wonderful sense. It is the way it has been happening here for centuries…
And so, each year in the summertime the Château opens her gates to visitors on a range of different Restore and Stay Experiences between 2 and 7 nights in length
All of the Experiences are similar in that they are about spending time within the walls of a historic, working Château as it is being bought back to life and getting to know the region of France in which she is situated - exploring everything from long ago Chateaux and medieval villages to the best of traditional French markets and fare
We are beyond excited to announce that in the summer of 2022 Château de Gudanes, after two years of being closed for stays due to the pandemic, will open her gates and her heart once again for this series of Summer Experiences like no other. Help to restore the Château’s 18th Century frescoes, join us in the Château Cuisine to to create sweet and savoury fare and tour the French countryside stopping at markets and exploring for antique treasures along the way
Mostly it is laissez-faire, where you choose how you would like to fill your days. Whether you would prefer to travel around the region, take part in restoring newly discovered frescoes in centuries old rooms, or to simply relax and read in one of the salons. Or perhaps, you would like to expand your culinary skills as you help out in the kitchens with our chefs, creating delicious meals to be served in all manners of settings - from an elegant candlelit dinner to an impromptu picnic in the wilderness of the woodlands surrounding the Château…
We won’t promise you spick, span and sparkly. Instead, what we will promise you is an Experience like no other – unswept, casual and perfectly imperfect...
In addition to our annual 7 Starry Nights, Cooking In The Cuisine and Weekender Stays in 2022 the Château will be hosting a two whole new experiences…
In late August, the Château will be hosting its very first fine art retreat! Under the tutelage of two fine art tutors, our guests, both debutantes and experienced artists, will be able to explore and grow their artistry inspired by the beauty both within and outside the Château...
And earlier in June for the very first time the Château will host a weekend of classical music bringing together a chamber ensemble of twelve classical artists from around the world for a formal concert by candlelight in the Château’s 18th Century gold gilded music room. Following the concert a formal dinner will be held in the Château’s Dining Room. We hope that you will dress for the occasion - prepare to be Baroque! The next day there will be a musical program of charming classic favourites as we picnic together in the Château Jardins. And then, a wonderful night spent at another magnificent Château close-by!
